MIDWAY WOLVERINES CHEERLEADING
The Midway Wolverines participate in youth football and cheerleading as part of the Forsyth County Youth Football and Cheerleading Association (FCYFA). The four parks that make up the association are Midway, Sharon Springs, Central, and Bennett. Midway Park is located on Post Road in Forsyth County, GA.
The 2010 registration fee for Midway Cheerleading is $275.00. This fee includes a custom uniform shell and skirt, hair bow, midriff top, bloomers, socks, shoes, poms, jacket, bag and the end of season trophy. All of these items are yours to keep. Other expenses may occur for the end of season banquet.
To be eligible for cheerleading, participants must be 5 years of age on September 1st of the current season or no more than 13 years of age by September 1st of the current season to be able to participate.
FCYFA has seven age groups: K/1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th/8th.
Cheerleaders may cheer up one age group with the prior approval of the Cheerleading Vice-President but cheering down in age is not permitted.
Practices:
Before school begins:
- 5-8 year olds can practice six (6) hours (3 meetings) per week.
- 9-13 year olds can practice eight (8) hours (4 meetings) per week until school begins.
After school begins:
- 5-8 year olds can practice no more than four (4) hours (2 meetings) during the week and two (2) hours on Saturday.
- 9-13 year olds can practice no more than six (6) hours (3 meetings) during the week and two (2) hours on Saturday.
When the season begins:
· 5-8 year olds can practice no more than four (4) hours (2 meetings) per week.
· 9-13 year olds can practice no more than six (6) hours (3 meetings) per week.
Curfews:
- 5&6 year olds can not practice past 8:00 pm*
- 7-10 year olds can not practice past 8:30 pm*
- 11-13 year olds can not practice past 9:00 pm*
*This rule does not apply to any participant choosing to cheer up.
Games:
Games are usually held on Saturdays. In the event participant registrations throughout the county are higher than expected, an evening game during the week may be required. The season runs from early August until November.
Cheer participants and their squads must cheer at all events in which their football team participates. This includes, but is not limited to regular season games, play-offs and Lanier Bowl. Each participant has an option to participate in the annual county Cheer Bowl at the end of the season.
